Ireland continues to produce top quality golfers thanks to the investment by the Golfing Union of Ireland in the development of the game in Ireland. Golfers like McIlroy, McDowell and Shane Lowry fresh from his WGC win, coupled with Major winners such as Clarke and Harrington all came through the Irish Union’s set-up.

The Amateur games continues to go from strength to strength with the potential for 5 Irish golfers in the upcoming Walker Cup team, not to mention having the number 1 ladies Amateur in the world.

Events like the North, South and Mullingar Scratch Cup are all an integral part of the education and tournament experience these players gained through the years. The GUI will continue to invest in the best coaching and tournaments to develop our players and we are sure to see the next crop of youngsters develop into tour players and potential major winners. It is great to be part of this development and we are pleased to be able to bring players to Ireland to experience the coaching, tournaments and competition that nurtured this success.
